Hi, I’m Barry. I’m from Ashbourne in Co. Meath, which is a little way north of Dublin City, Ireland. I enjoy music, and lots of it. I’ve played guitar since I was 14 and drums since I was 17, getting myself involved in a wonderful charity music group along the way.

I know far too many random facts about The Beatles.

I like problem solving, troubleshooting and finding solutions. I like creating, whether it’s music, written content, graphics, websites, or Photoshops of friends’ heads on wrestlers’ bodies.

My most recent role was as Web Content Developer for Memotech, which operates a number of websites including AllSafes.ie and CashDrawers.ie. I researched and created copy for e-commerce and blog style sites. I also provided sales and tech support over the phone to customers who had purchased Point of Sale hardware.

Previously, I worked for the The Fingal Centre, where I was responsible for web/graphic design. I also provide the staff with technical support when required, maintain the office’s computers, and act as network administrator.

I’ve undertaken freelance web design work for Ashbourne Parish and for the aforementioned wonderful charity music group. I’ve also worked in retail for a nationwide electronics chain (though they went by a different name then).

I studied in Dublin City University. Twice. In 2004, I completed the B.Sc. in Multimedia, before returning in 2007 to complete the year-long MA in Film & Television Studies. Recently, I read back over my Masters thesis; I understood roughly two-thirds of it, which I’d say is pretty good going.

Describe yourself in five words?

A bit of a geek.

What’s this website for exactly?

It’s a place where I can show some samples of my previous work, and also somewhere where I plonk the odd tidbit, bits and pieces, and stuff I write that won’t fit anywhere else.
